American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding class is designed to teach you not only the basics in water safety, but also the proper protocol when dealing with any emergencies around water. The Red Cross blends both traditional lecture style along with crucial hands-on training in order to teach you effective techniques to deliver prompt care to those in need. Learn how to respond safely and efficiently to water emergencies with the American Red Cross Lifeguarding class. A non-refundable fee of $35 is included in the cost of the class for the lifeguard cert.

LIFEGUARD CLASSES
Learn lifesaving skills and earn an American Red Cross lifeguard certification. Candidates must be 15 years old by the completion of the course, complete a 7-hour online course before the first day of the course, and pass the following in-water prerequisites in at least 5 feet of water:
• Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
• Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
• Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
o Starting in the water, swim 20 yards.
o Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
o Surface and swim 20 yards on back with both hands holding object.
Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
This class will be held May 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 11th. Participants must attend ALL dates.
May 2: 8-10pm Virtual
May 3: 8:45am-4pm
May 9: 8:45am-5:45pm
May 11: 6-9am
