Featuring around 100 works by over 80 artists, The '70s Lens explores how photographers transformed documentary practice during this pivotal era in American life. Mikki Ferrill and Frank Espada used their cameras to create nuanced portraits of their communities. Tseng Kwong Chi and Susan Hiller highlighted photography’s role in advancing performance and conceptual art. Artists such as Lewis Baltz and Joe Deal challenged conventional views of nature with their depictions of suburban sprawl. Meanwhile, Michael Jang and Joanne Leonard offered interior views that examine the social dynamics within domestic spaces. Dine on your own at the museum.
