Discover the remarkable art and architecture that transformed the Stewart Lee Udall Department of the Interior Building into a "symbol of a new day" during the Great Depression. Designed by renowned local architect Waddy Butler Wood (1869–1944), this historic building stands as a testament to New Deal-era optimism and artistic achievement. It houses more Public Works Administration (PWA) artwork than any other federal building and features contributions from the second-highest number of PWA artists in the country. Following our tour of this architectural gem, we'll head to the vibrant DC Wharf for an early dinner at 3 p.m., offering waterfront dining and a chance to unwind after a day of cultural exploration.
