Drawn primarily from the collections of the artists' historic homes and studios, Monuments and Myths is the first exhibition to bring together Saint-Gaudens and French in this way, exploring their intersecting biographies and examining the affinities that made them leaders in their field at the Michener Art Museum. As we collectively refocus our attention on the role and meaning of historic monuments, it is a timely moment to consider the enduring power of these artists’ sculptures and how they continue to shape our understanding of America. We will also visit The Mercer Museum to experience the exciting new major exhibition, The Doan Gang: Outlaws of the Revolution, which explores the history and intrigue of a group of Revolutionary War-era Loyalists whose legend lives on today. Some called them villains; others hailed them as heroes. Box lunch included in price.
